Employee Engagement = Employee Retention

During the Great Resignation, employees are often leaving for greener pastures. What can a leader do about that? One Gallup study may shed some light on one thing a leader can do to help improve employee retention. The answer is: increase employee empowerment and engagement. Improving how empowered employees are, increasing trust between leadership and staff, and creating a shared sense of ownership and vision, will lead to better engagement.
 
I created the chart below using data from Gallup’s employee engagement study to show positive impacts an organization may see by improving employee empowerment and engagement.
 
Gallup’s study stretched across 276 organizations in 54 industries (including 112,312 business and work units and 2,708,538 employees) to measure 11 outcomes and how Employee Engagement is related to them. The chart compares the top scoring companies with highest employee engagement to the bottom scoring (top quartile to bottom quartile).
